We had the pleasure to set up a booth at Douglas College to show the engineering aspects of violin making. With a simple setup, we demonstrated resonance at different frequencies with Chladni figures. This is also how we tune the violin plates!

Our June meeting was a great success with 16 members and guests, a birthday cake, and plenty of new violins. The attendees enjoyed playing four recently made violins, including a first! We had a great meeting with a local professional luthier stopping by with four violins a viola that he had made. About 10 members turned out including a nice mix of our experienced and new builders. In total we had eight instruments displayed, including an instrument with fancy inlaying.

We had our first meeting after the summer break this past Friday. The meeting had a good turn out with 8 or so regular members and a guest who found out about the club through this website! Also, we had a variety of Strad and Del Gesu models from three of the more active members.
